THAIFEX 2008 - "World of Food Asia"

Thaifex 2008, the final leg of the Export Department's participation in international tradeshows for 2008, was held at the IMPACT Exhibition Center in Bangkok, Thailand from May 21 to 25. Thaifex, "the leading trade platform for the food and beverage industry in South East Asia", featured the following product categories during the fair: Alcohol-free Drinks, Alcoholic Drinks, Dairy Products, Fine Food, Fruit & Vegetable, Grocery Products, Halal, Health & Organic Food, Meat & Poultry, Ready -to-Eat, Rice & Rice Products, Seafood, Sweets & Confectionery, Food Technology, Food Catering & Hospitality Services, Retail & Franchise and others.

As reported, this year's Thaifex fair had a total of 21,833 registered trade visitors, with 21% coming from 116 countries outside Thailand. At the same time, there were a total of 1,011 exhibitors coming from 32 countries.

This year's Philippine delegation was organized by the Department of Agriculture (D.A.)-Agribusiness & Marketing Assistance Service and was composed of 17 company participants, namely FCG Trading Phils. Inc., Fenor Food Products, First Choice Food Corp., Florence Foods Corp., Grand Alphatech Int'l Corp., Guaranfood Manufacturing, Laura's Food Products Corp., Leslie Corporation, Lucky Fortune Foods Corporation, Marky's Primebake Corp., MCT Food Inc., Mega Fishing Corp., Monde Nissin Corporation, Republic Biscuit Corp., RFM Corp., RPM Pilinut Candies and See's International Food Manufacturing Corp.

With the theme of "Philippines-Asia's Food Paradise" the Philippine delegation was able to meet buyers from all over the world. At the same time, they were also able to observe the other country/company pavilions that featured a wide array of products that highlighted the different emerging trends in the food and beverage industries.
